Producer of The Month: Chad Willis
Who: Chad Willis with wife Krista Willis and children, Amber and Cooper, Father In Law Vern Buer, and Justin VanEpps
What: Crop farm with corn and soybeans
Where: Near Willmar Minnesota

How did you get started? 
We moved back to Willmar in 1994 with the plan to start transitioning to take over my father in laws farm. Started full time farming with Corn, Soybeans, and Dairy Beef in 1997.  

Where are you now?
Still farming and on the farm. Not doing any dairy beef, but more active with Agricultural Groups. Currently a member of Kandiyohi County Corn and Soybean growers, Serve on the MN Corn Research and Promotion Council. Chad was elected to serve as Chairman of Us Grains Council for 2021-22.

How have things changed?
As people continue to become more removed from the farm every day.  It’s more important to get out and share our story and advocate for issues that affect farming. 

What do you enjoy doing outside of farming?
Going to local dirt track races and spending time at the lake grilling for friends and family.
